The creative arrangement of different kinds of flowers is called a bouquet of flowers. These are used for several decoration purposes, be it for the home décor or for some party or different events. Flower bouquets are also used for several occasions like for wedding or for funeral.

History of flower bouquets arrangements

There are depictions that the arrangements of flower bouquets date back to as early as 2500 BC. In the earlier times of history, flowers like lotuses were often used that symbolized purity. There are other types of flowers that were used for the arrangement of the bouquet of flowers like narcissus, herbs, irises, palms and anemones.
Ikebana is an ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement that is still practiced today as well. There is also the existence of the oldest book of flower arrangement that is from the year 1445. The ikebana has also influenced the western style of arrangement of flowers and this is reflected mainly in the linearity and the simplicity with which the flowers are arranged in the modern days as well.


The art of flower arranging was spread around in Japan and consequently to the rest of the world by the celebrated Buddhist monks who had learned this art in China. In the European countries this particular art was first began by the Dutch. It dates back in the 18th century when by the method of flower arrangements, the houses of wealthy merchants and families were decorated. This in turn symbolized aristocracy.


Language of the flower


The language of the bouquet of flowers originated in the Asia and the Middle Eastern countries and it was a method of symbolism. This became a celebrated form of art and was reflected as the Bamboo art in China to refer to eternity and longevity of life. The English were introduced to this language in the 18th century by Mary Wortley. It was by the end of the Victorian era that every different flower had a particular symbolistic meaning. For example a nosegay made with chamomile flower reflected that a woman might implore her romantic interest to have patience.
